Based in Morey-Saint-Denis, Domaine Dujac was formed in 1968 by Jacques Seysses. It is now one of Burgundy’s finest producers, with a worldwide reputation. This particular cuvée is the domaine’s ‘Les Échezeaux’, a prestigious grand cru vineyard which lies to the west and southwest of the Clos de Vougeot. 2017 was another great vintage for Dujac, where the ripening conditions were excellent. The resulting wines are fresh, transparent and silky.
Vinous
The 2017 Echézeaux Grand Cru has a well defined bouquet of red and black fruit, the hints of black olive and light undergrowth turning into more tea leaf and bay leaf aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with slightly rustic tannin and a little oaky at the moment, but there is sufficient fruit to subsume the wood. I would just like a little more complexity to show through on the finish, like the Malconsorts. Neal Martin1st January 2019

A Focus on Terroir

Founded in the late 1960s by Jacques Seysses, who purchased and renovated Domaine Graillet in Morey-St-Denis. The estate is currently run by Jacques' sons Jeremy and Alec, who farm around 17 hectares of vines across the Côte including holdings in Echezeaux, Clos de la Roche, Charmes-Chambertin and Bonnes Mares.

A natural approach is taken in the vineyard and cellar with the estate moving from organic farming to fully biodynamic in the mid 2000s, receiving their certification in 2011. The team's focus is on elegance - temperatures are controlled to keep alcohol in check and also limit malolactic fermentation while juice from the crush is fed into the cellar by gravity only without the use of pumping. The wines of Domaine Dujac represent pure, balanced expressions of their respective terroirs.
