Echézeaux Bouchard 2002 is a Grand Cru red Burgundy exhibiting a structured profile with pronounced tannins. The wine presents notes of dark cherries, blackberries and hints of dried herbs, alongside a firm acidity that shapes its character. A subtle oak influence introduces nuances of spice and toast, complementing the fruit elements. Established in 1731, Bouchard Père & Fils is notable for its expansive cellar in Beaune, housing a blend of tradition and innovation that reflects in this wine.

Good medium ruby. Captivating aromas of dark berries, tobacco and smoke. Dense, sweet and juicy, with noteworthy inner-mouth purity and energy. Hints of minerals and smoke. Seems less evolved than the Reignots despite possessing a supple texture. Long, gripping finish features very fine tannins. But is this better than the superb 2001?

Floral red fruits are found in the aromatics of the 2002 Echezeaux (domaine). Medium-bodied, this is a satin-textured wine in the attack and mid-palate. Lovely red berries can be detected among this concentrated effort’s ripe yet highly present tannin. It tightens in the finish, leading me to believe it requires cellaring. Anticipated maturity. 2008-2014. - Pierre Rovani
