Château Durfort-Vivens 1988 is a notable release from Bordeaux`s Margaux appellation, crafted from a blend primarily featuring Cabernet Sauvignon. This wine showcases complex aromas of blackcurrants, plums and subtle herbal notes. On the palate, the wine reveals firm tannins balanced by acidity, with a finish that highlights earthy undertones. The Durfort-Vivens estate spans 55 hectares and is currently managed by Gonzague Lurton, who has made progressive strides in organic and biodynamic farming since 2009.
76 Robert Parker
Medium ruby, with a spicy, dusty, very herbaceous bouquet, the 1988 Durfort-Vivens has an astringent, pervasive vegetal character. No doubt the Cabernet Sauvignon was picked before it had attained maturity, resulting in a short, compact, and attenuated wine. Anticipated maturity. Now-1998. - Robert M. Parker, Jr.

2ème Grand Cru Classé

Somewhat under the radar, this superb 2ème Grand Cru Classé estate produces wonderful Left Bank Bordeaux reds from Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc, grown on gravel soils.

Owned by the high-profile Lurton family since 1961, Château Durfort-Vivens has been certified biodynamic since 2016. The resultant wines are beautifully structured Cabernet Sauvignon-dominant wines that are built for aging. There is an emphasis on low-intervention winemaking, whilst 45% oak is used for the first wine and 20% for the second ‘Vivens’. A beautiful expression of the Margaux appellation.
