Duty Charges

Below is a summary of the new duty charges per bottle as of February 2026. Please note that these vary depending on the ABV and are subject to change. Please get in touch if you require more information:

Transparent Billing and Rate Calculations

Annual Billing: Clients are invoiced annually based on the wines stored in the preceding year.
Case Equivalents: A case is defined as 9 litres of wine (typically twelve 750ml bottles), ensuring clarity in pricing.
Pro-Rata Charges: Storage fees are charged on a per-bottle basis, and wines stored for part of a month will be billed accordingly.

How to Use Our Bonded Storage

Purchase en primeur or under-bond wines from Hedonism Wines.
Automatically enjoy twelve months of free storage at our bonded storage when you open your storage account.
After twelve months, your storage will continue at the rates outlined above, with quarterly invoicing.
When you are ready to receive your wines, simply request delivery. Most orders are fulfilled within 3-4 working days.

One of the oldest whiskies ever independently bottled, this Dumbarton single grain was distilled in 1964 at the now-demolished Dumbarton distillery and matured for 60 years by Murray McDavid`s Ultra range. Expect deeply evolved notes of dried fruit, antique polished oak and honeyed spice on the nose, with a rich, complex palate of raisin, toffee and gentle vanilla built up over six decades. An extraordinarily rare grain whisky, offering a genuine taste of Scotch whisky history.

A Silent Giant

When it was constructed in the 1930s, on the banks of the River Leven where it meets the Clyde, Dumbarton was the largest continuous grain distillery in Lowland Scotland. Its grain whisky was mostly reserved for the Ballantine’s blend. Although never officially bottled as a single grain, several independent bottlings were done by Douglas Laing and Hunter Laing.

In addition to producing prodigious amounts of grain spirit for its US owners Hiram Walker, Dumbarton distillery also housed the malt distilleries of Lomond (discontinued in 1985) and Inverleven (discontinued in 1991). Dumbarton itself was mothballed in 2002.

Aside from its association with Ballantine’s, Dumbarton is perhaps best-known for its ‘Scotch Watch’ – a gaggle of around 100 Chinese geese brought in by Hiram Walker in 1959 to guard the distillery’s bonded warehouses. These birds became so iconic that were incorporated into the advertising for the Ballantine’s brand.
