Du Tertre 2012 presents a medium-bodied profile with a blend primarily featuring Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot, and Cabernet Franc. The nose reveals earthy tones intertwined with dark fruit notes, showcasing a balance of blackcurrants and plums, alongside hints of cedar and tobacco. On the palate, the wine exhibits moderate acidity with fine tannins, leading to a finish that lingers but is somewhat straightforward.
Established in the Margaux appellation, Château du Tertre has a history that dates back to the 18th century. The vineyard spans around 50 acres on gravelly soils, which are well-suited for cultivating high-quality grapes. The 2012 vintage benefits from a notably warm growing season, allowing for optimal ripening and a classic Bordeaux character that reflects both its terroir and vintage conditions.

Vinous
The 2012 du Tertre has a well-defined nose. fully-mature with hoisin, dark plum and a light, ferrous edge, not powerful but focused. The palate is well balanced with saturated tannins, fine acidity, quite cohesive and poised with white pepper and clove lining the finish. This is a stylish Margaux for the vintage. Tasted blind at the Southwold Ten-Year On tasting. - Neil Martin
