The 2013 Donelan Tripp`s Block Pinot Noir from Mendocino Ridge presents a complex array of aromas and flavours typical of the Pinot Noir variety. On the nose, it reveals a medley of black cherry, raspberry and subtle herbal notes, alongside hints of cedar and earthiness. The palate features a balance of red and dark fruit, supported by refined tannins and a fresh acidity. This wine is structured for ageing and is expected to evolve through 2027.
91 Robert Parker
The 2013 Pinot Noir Tripp’s Block comes from the Perli Vineyard in the Mendocino Ridge. This is based on Dijon clones 667 and 777. It spends 18 months in oak, and the precentage of new oak is about 30%. A slightly larger-scaled, more savory wine than the Two Brothers, the wine exhibits a deep plum/ruby color and notes of sweet black cherry and berry fruit along with some underbrush and forest floor. The lovely texture is savory, round, juicy and very pure. This wine should drink well for up to a decade.
90 Vinous
An addition to the range, the 2013 Pinot Noir Tripp's Block is delicate, lifted and graceful in its profile. Sage, mint and a host of floral/savory notes open up first. The 2013 is a very pretty wine, although it could use a little more depth through the mid-palate and finish.Antonio Galloni1st February 2016
