Owned by French winemaker Christian Moueix, Dominus Estate spans approximately 124 acres of vineyards in the Napa Valley. Focused on crafting Bordeaux-style wines, the winery is celebrated for its flagship wine, Dominus, which was first produced in 1983. Release in June 2016, the 2013 vintage is a blend of 89% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Cabernet Franc and 7% Petit Verdot. The wine showcases a harmonious blend of blue and purple fruit, accompanied by delicate violets and earthy undertones. With its unlimited aging potential, Dominus 2013 promises to evolve gracefully over time, offering an ever-expanding spectrum of flavours.

Vinous
The 2013 Dominus remains a huge, dense wine. A blast of scorched earth, tobacco, incense, dried herbs, licorice, black fruit and gravel saturates the palate. Brawny and explosive, the 2013 is still very young. It can't possibly be described as elegant but rather virile, somber and dark. All that said, the 2013 is not ready yet. I would not open this anytime soon.Antonio Galloni9th May 2024

A First Growth in Napa
Along with Opus One, Dominus is one of the greatest examples of applying the Bordelais approach to winemaking to the great vineyards of the Napa Valley. Grapes are sourced from Yountville, specifically the historic Napanook vineyard, from which the winery's second wine takes its name.
The 'Grand Vin' is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Petit Verdot - a classic Bordeaux blend. After vinification, around 30% of the wine is loaded into new oak barrels for 15 months before bottling. Initial releases of Dominus met with mixed reviews, but since the late 1990s, the winery has established itself as one of the greatest in America.
