Rooted in values of quality, stewardship, tradition and innovation, the Dominus Estate team produces distinctive wines that express the essence of the historic Napanook vineyard. Known for complexity and balance, this Cabernet blend is structured, seamless and perfectly integrated. Dominus 2005 displays a dense and compact nose, filled with dark berries, blond tobacco, black cherries and cacao. Rounded and elegant tannins. Black fruit and liquorice linger throughout the evolution in mouth, well-balanced and harmonious.

Vinous
Dark red-ruby. Knockout nose combines raspberry, plum, mocha, game, minerals and tobacco. Offers alluring Right Bank sweetness but also superb energy and definition; a lovely combination of Old World nuance and dark Napa Valley fruit. As suave and fine-grained as this wine is, it's also penetrating and gripping, stony and high-pitched. Finishes with terrific tannic spine and mineral reserve. This very youthful wine still has upside. Stephen Tanzer1st May 2016

A First Growth in Napa
Along with Opus One, Dominus is one of the greatest examples of applying the Bordelais approach to winemaking to the great vineyards of the Napa Valley. Grapes are sourced from Yountville, specifically the historic Napanook vineyard, from which the winery's second wine takes its name.
The 'Grand Vin' is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Petit Verdot - a classic Bordeaux blend. After vinification, around 30% of the wine is loaded into new oak barrels for 15 months before bottling. Initial releases of Dominus met with mixed reviews, but since the late 1990s, the winery has established itself as one of the greatest in America.
