Dom Ruinart 1981 is a prestige cuvée blanc de blancs from a small but high-quality vintage. 1981 was characterised by a severe spring frost that drastically reduced yields, resulting in wines of immense concentration and high acidity. This fully mature Champagne exhibits a deep golden hue and a sophisticated array of tertiary notes including roasted coffee, beeswax, dried apricots and truffle. Despite its age, the wine retains a fine, persistent bead and a vibrant mineral core. The palate is expansive and vinous, showing the depth achieved by Grand Cru Chardonnay in a challenging year.

Vinous
The 1981 Dom Ruinart (disgorged September 2008) offered an intriguing mix of hazelnuts, smoke, toffee and earthiness balanced by the freshness of its recent disgorgement. This, too, was a gorgeous bottle.Antonio Galloni1st October 2008

One of Champagne's Oldest
Founded in Reims in 1729 by Nicolas Ruinart (the nephew of legendary Benedictine monk Dom Ruinart), Ruinart is one of the oldest champagne houses in France. The Ruinart style is characterised by its supreme elegance and finesse. A key cuvée is the Ruinart Blanc de Blancs - the house’s signature champagne - made using 100% Chardonnay grapes from vineyards in the Côte des Blancs and Montagne de Reims.
The Chardonnay variety is at the heart of all of the house's cuvees, including the Ruinart Rosé Brut, which is a blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, mostly sourced from Premier Cru vineyards, in addition to the Dom Ruinart Blanc de Blancs and the Ruinart Brut.
