Château Doisy-Vedrines 2001 is a mature-vintage sweet wine produced in the Sauternes appellation of Bordeaux. A 2éme Cru Classé Barsac property, Doisy-Vedrines has been owned by the Castéja family since 1946. – who also own Chateau Batailley and Château Trotte Vieille in St Emilion – since 1946. The property has a reputation for producing some of the richest, most full-bodied sweet wines in Barsac. "Having tasted the Doisy-Vedrines 2001 on numerous occasions, I was expecting great things. Here under blind conditions - it delivered. It has always sported a wonderful bouquet with well defined citrus-driven fruit, augmented by orange blossom and barley sugar scents, hints of lemon curd in the background. The palate is well balanced with crisp acidity. Orange peel and apricot abound and lead to a focused and beautifully defined tense finish that contradict this estate`s tendency towards fatness and richness. This is a great Barsac from Olivier Castèja and has a bright future ahead." Neal Martin, 2014

Limpid gold in color, the 2001 Doisy-Védrines offers beeswax, honeysuckle and quince jelly on the nose; hints of gingerbread emerge with time. The oak comes through a bit here, which is odd after two decades. The palate is vibrant and tensile on the entry, delivering the weight one expects from this Barsac, allied with a fine bead of acidity that imparts tension. Tangy marmalade and quince notes appear toward the finish. This is a fine Doisy-Védrines that is à point. Neal Martin1st September 2021
