Diamond Creek Vineyards, established in 1968 by Al and Boots Brounstein, is renowned for pioneering single-vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon in California. The 1986 Volcanic Hill Cabernet Sauvignon, sourced from the estate`s warmest microclimate, presents a dark garnet hue. On the nose, it offers deep, perfumed aromas of cassis, violets, and mocha, accented with notes of cigar box, vanilla, and toasty oak. The palate is full-bodied, with rich dark fruits, plums, and earthy notes, leading to a smooth finish of saturated black cherry. This vintage exemplifies the power and longevity characteristic of Volcanic Hill`s unique terroir.
