Diamond Creek produce four outstanding site-specific Cabernet Sauvignons. Gravelly Meadow is a tiny plot planted on a prehistoric riverbed and has the coolest micro-climate. The 2013 is a phenomenal release reminiscent of great wines from Pessac-Léognan. Huge gobs of black fruit intermingle with crushed rock minerality in this full-bodied yet hugely elegant and pure wine.

- The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Gravelly Meadow is an infant. It, too, demands more cellaring. Scorched earth, tobacco, incense, dried herbs, menthol and licorice open first. The 2013 is a big, deep wine. There's a ton of oak, but it is well-integrated. I especially admire its freshness and overall vibrancy.
