Dassault 2001 is a full-bodied Merlot-based red wine from the St-Emilion appellation of Bordeaux. Acquired in 1955 by Marcel Dassault and formerly known as Château Couperie, Château Dassault is a large Grand Cru Classé St-Emilion property whose Merlot-dominant wines are noted for their combination of power, complexity and elegance. This is the property`s 2001 grand vin. While not quite possessing the opulence of 2000, 2001 proved to be a very good vintage in Bordeaux, producing an abundance of concentrated and long-lived wines on both Left and Right Banks.

An attractive, open-knit, deep ruby-colored wine, Dassault`s 2001 has sweet currant, plum, and cassis flavors, medium body, and more density and structure than usual. Anticipated maturity. 2005-2013. - Robert M. Parker, Jr.
