Darroze is arguably the leading independent bottler of armagnacs in France. The family business was founded in the early 1970s by Francis Darroze, a restauranteur in the Bas-Armagnac region who started buying armagnac casks for his customers. This release is part of their ‘Grands Assemblages’ range, a 20-year-old expression revealing sheer maturity and complexity.

Vinous
- A blend of Cognacs from five crus, though the age is unclear. Deep amber in color, this shows a lot of intense woodiness on the nose at first, nearly overwhelming the more attractive dried floral, nutty and leather aromas. On the palate, it’s round and soft, and a little too fat and oily, offering gentle butterscotch along with more sweet and spicy oak. A bit disappointing for the price. (40% abv)
