Daniel Twardowski is a small, meticulous grower in Germany`s Mosel, best known for coaxing serious red wine from the region`s slate soils more usually reserved for Riesling. This Hofberg Reserve comes from old, low-yielding vines and sees careful, minimal-intervention winemaking. Expect a garnet colour, a smoky nose of blackberry, violet, liquorice and herbs, and a taut, mineral palate with firm, dry tannins. Still youthful, this 2018 will reward two or three years further in the cellar.
