Formerly known as Mouton d`Armailhac, Château d`Armailhac was designated as a Fifth Growth in the 1855 Bordeaux Classification and is part of the broader portfolio of estates under Baron Philippe de Rothschild. Recent improvements in quality have elevated Château d`Armailhac`s status, and it is now considered one of the best-value wines in Pauillac. The 1995 vintage was a notable one, following four preceding years marked by inconsistency. A hot summer, reminiscent of that in 1990, set the stage for the growing season. It yielded red wines that were characterized by their suppleness, harmony, and exceptional quality, all while enjoying bountiful yields.

Very good deep color. Deeply pitched, very reticent Pauillac aromas of cassis, shoe polish and mint. Sweeter and denser than the '94, but with some dull ripe notes in the middle. Finishes with substantial tannins. This gained shape with time in the glass. Stephen Tanzer1st May 1996
