Crozes Hermitage Domaine des Lises Graillot 2021 presents a medium-bodied profile, showcasing its Syrah heritage. The nose features aromas of dark berries, particularly blackcurrant and blackberry, coupled with hints of pepper and earthiness. On the palate, flavors of ripe fruits meld with subtle herbal notes and a touch of spice, creating a balanced but straightforward expression of the terroir.

The wine is crafted from grapes sourced from older vines, offering depth while retaining a fresh character. Aged primarily in stainless steel and a small portion in neutral oak, it highlights the purity of the fruit without overwhelming complexity. This wine is emblematic of the Northern Rhône style, accessible yet capable of aging for a few years if desired.

After the underperforming 2022 I tasted side by side, the 2021 Crozes-Hermitage is game-on. Vinified with 100% whole clusters, it bursts onto the scene with ripe cranberry, red plum, stemmy funk and pencil shaving notes. Medium-bodied at most, the 2021 packs vivid freshness and lovely substance, checking out with stamina on the savory finish. Give it one more year in bottle.Nicolas Greinacher1st January 2025

Juicy plum, black cherry, green and black olive. A bit green. The tannins are grainy but not excessive, and there's a nice balance of fruit, savour and structure. (JRL)Julian Leidy17th March 2025
