Paul Jaboulet Aîné is a renowned winery in the Northern Rhône, known for producing high-quality wines from the region`s various appellations. The Thalabert vineyard is a prized site within the Crozes-Hermitage appellation, recognized for producing Syrah grapes that yield wines with structure and elegance. The Crozes-Hermitage Thalabert Jaboulet 1999 is medium-bodied wine, with a rich fruit character supported by fine tannins and balancing acidity. The finish is long and complex, with lingering flavours of dark fruit, spice, and a hint of savoury, smoky undertones.

Red-ruby. Deep, smoky aromas of roasted plum, redcurrant, leather and game. Sweet and lush, but lovely vinosity gives the currant, plum and gunflint flavors a penetrating quality. As gentle as this wine appears today, there are plenty of fine tannins for aging.Stephen Tanzer1st January 2002

The 1999 Crozes-Hermitage Thalabert is a complex, perfumed effort with less fat than the 2000, but good spice and ripeness, medium body, and firm, underlying acidity. It needs another 1-2 years of cellaring, and should last for 10-14 years. Jaboulet's Crozes-Hermitage Thalabert used to be the finest wine of the appellation, but that is no longer the case. Anyone who has tasted some of the great vintages of this wine (1990, 1978) knows it can provide sumptuous drinking for fifteen or more years.
