Croizet Bages 2014 is a Left Bank Bordeaux blend from the Pauillac appellation. The blend for this vintage is 58% Cabernet Sauvignon, 37% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc. The growing season featured a warm summer, contributing to ripeness in the grapes. Aged for 12 months in a combination of new and used French oak barrels, this wine exhibits a firm tannic structure alongside notes of cassis, tobacco, graphite and earthy notes. Château Croizet-Bages is classified as a Cinquième Cru in the 1855 Bordeaux Classification.

The 2014 Croizet-Bages has quite a powerful bouquet with feisty black fruit, sage and cedar. The palate is medium-bodied with firm tannin, rigid and hard, quite austere with a short finish that shows a touch of bitterness. Tasted blind at the annual Southwold tasting.Neal Martin1st March 2018
