Croizet Bages 2010 is a Left Bank Bordeaux blend comprising 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc. The nose presents aromas of tobacco and earthy notes, underlined by subtle hints of leather. On the palate, the wine shows restrained fruit character, with a firm tannic structure and a gritty mouthfeel. Flavours of dark berry and cedar emerge, complemented by a whisper of graphite. This wine hails from the estate of Château Croizet-Bages, a producer known for its longstanding history in the Pauillac appellation, where vines benefit from exceptional gravelly soil and a temperate maritime climate.

Vinous
Full ruby-red. Slightly medicinal aromas of cassis, blackberry, soy sauce and licorice. Dense and chewy in the mouth, with a restrained sweetness but very good intensity to the rather muscular dark fruit, licorice and spice flavors. Not the last word in finesse but in its breadth and smooth tannins this is the best wine from this estate in decades.Stephen Tanzer1st July 2013
