The Craigellachie Distillery was built in 1891 at the very heart of Speyside, between Rothes and Dufftown. This is one of four official bottlings from the distillery, which were released in 2014. The 23-year-old is the oldest of the set, bringing plenty of bold fruit, complex herbs, refined oak and a touch of sulphur.

From The Heart of Speyside

Built in 1891 in the heart of Speyside, between the towns of Rothes and Dufftown, Craigallachie is positioned near the joining of the river Spey with the river Fiddich. The distillery was co-founded by Alexander Edward, who established Aultmore distillery and Peter Mackie, of the famous "White Horse" blending company. The team run two wash stills and two spirit stills and produce around four million litres of whisky a year.

Own label bottlings of Craigallachie used to be very rare, but this has all changed around 2010 when a number of new age-statement releases hit the shelves. A13 year old, 17 year old, 19 year old and 23 year old were all made available as part of Bacardi's "Last Great Malts" series.
