Coutet 2001 presents a golden hue with a rich aroma profile that features honeyed notes alongside candied citrus and a subtle minerality. The palate unveils a blend of ripe peach and apricot, which layers with hints of almond and spice, providing a complex yet balanced experience. The acidity is present but well-integrated, contributing to the wine`s overall structure and longevity.
Coutet is located in the Barsac region of Bordeaux, known for its excellent sweet wines. The 2001 vintage is recognized for its favorable conditions, leading to concentrated grapes. Coutet typically ages well, and this vintage reflects the winery`s dedication to producing high-quality Sauternes, with optimal botrytis cinerea development enhancing the fruit character.

Vinous
From one of the few remaining bottles at the estate (unbelievably!), the 2001 Coutet has a generous bouquet with yellow plum, Seville oranges, white peach, chai and orange blossom. The palate is viscous on the entry, more so than the 1996. It's concentrated with good depth and weight. Maybe it could benefit from a little more acidity and nerve on the finish? But this represents a fine Coutet nonetheless, just pipped by the 1996. Tasted from an ex-château bottle served at the estate.
