Gramenon Côtes du Rhône Ceps Centenaires La Mémé 2005 is a medium-bodied red wine from the Côte du Rhône appellation of the northern Rhône Valley. One of the most revered names in natural wine in the Rhône Valley, Domaine Gramenon produces this cuvée from its oldest Grenache vines. These vines are approximately 120 years old and grow in stony sandstone soils containing a high proportion of fossils. This is one of the very finest reds in the Southern Rhône, a Grenache with impressive power and depth, but also a wonderful elegance and purity of fruit.

The 2005 Ceps Centenaires, again, has a more saturated ruby/purple color, and displays the vintage’s crisp, tart, acid profile with wonderful fresh black currant and sweet raspberry fruit notes. In the mouth, more kirsch comes forth in this medium-bodied, ripe, but well-balanced refreshing style of Cotes du Rhone. It should drink well for 6-7 years, as the 1990 Cotes du Rhone Ceps Centenaires evolved for well over a decade before starting to fade.
