Guigal is arguably the most renowned producer in Côte Rôtie and stands as one of the premier names in the Rhône Valley. Established in 1946 by Etienne Guigal, the estate was at the forefront of the concept of single-vineyard Côte Rôtie wines. His three most famous wines, La Landonne, La Mouline, and La Turque, are currently among the world`s most highly sought-after wines. The 1995 La Turque presents an enticing nose of floral scents, complemented by red cherries, dried blackberry, smoky herbs, savoury charcuterie, and crushed vanilla beans. On the palate, its velvety, smooth edges lead to a vibrant core of impeccably ripe cherry liqueur, thyme, candied almond, marmalade, and hints of orange zest.
Deep ruby-red. Powerful, expressive aromas of roasted cherry and raspberry, marzipan, brown spices and grilled nuts. Ripe, creamy and lush, with seamless cherry and pepper fruit. Not quite as expressive today on the palate as the above. But here the tannins seem even finer, though this wine is not longer than the Mouline.Stephen Tanzer1st January 2000

Benchmark for Côte-Rôtie excellence
Founded in the village of Ampuis by Etienne Guigal in 1946, Domaine Guigal is one of the most revered and unwaveringly consistent estates in the Rhône Valley, and is often seen as a benchmark for Côte-Rôtie Syrah.
