Côte Rôtie La Mouline Guigal 1999 is a full-bodied single-vineyard Syrah from the northern Rhône Valley. The wine showcases the complexity and character typical of this esteemed family estate. The wine reveals a deep ruby colour, exhibiting aromas of dark berries and subtle floral notes. It also presents hints of smoked meat and crushed pepper. On the palate, it is full-bodied with a structured mouthfeel, fine tannins and a persistent finish. Guigal`s disciplined approach to winemaking is evident, as they age their wines in oak barrels for an extended period, ensuring clarity and depth. This vintage is approaching its peak, offering both maturity and further evolution.

Bright deep ruby. Cassis, roasted herbs, licorice and cooked tomato on the nose. Lush and thick, but with strong minerality contributing to the impression of grip. Superconcentrated fruit here. Suave, expanding finish goes on and on. Offers great long-term aging potential.Stephen Tanzer1st January 2003

Benchmark for Côte-Rôtie excellence

Founded in the village of Ampuis by Etienne Guigal in 1946, Domaine Guigal is one of the most revered and unwaveringly consistent estates in the Rhône Valley, and is often seen as a benchmark for Côte-Rôtie Syrah. A pioneer of the single-vineyard concept in this appellation Guigal is best known for its top three wines, known affectionately as the 'La-Las', which is short for La Landonne, La Mouline and La Turque – the domaine's top Syrah vineyards .

Other notable vineyards of this 75-hectare estate include La Doriane (the source of Guigal's Condrieu), Ex-Voto (used for Hermitage) and Vignes de l'Hospice (the source of one of Guigal's top St-Joseph Syrahs). All of these have become benchmark wines of their respective appellations. The Crozes-Hermitage appellation completes the roster of Northern Rhône estate vineyards.

Since 2006, Guigal has made a substantial investment in appellations of the Southern Rhône, using top-quality purchased fruit from trusted growers in Châteaneuf-du-Pape, Gigondas, Tavel and the Côtes du Rhône.
