Côte-Rôtie La Landonne Rostaing 2006 is a single-vineyard Syrah from one of the most celebrated lieu-dits in the Northern Rhône, known for its steep, iron-rich schist soils. This vintage presents a brooding and savoury profile of smoked meats, black olives and graphite, supported by the formidable tannic architecture typical of this site. Rene Rostaing’s winemaking emphasises the terroir of the roasted slope through whole-cluster fermentation and maturation in predominantly older oak, allowing the dark fruit and scorched earth notes to remain primary. After 20 years, the 2006 has developed profound secondary complexity, blending its mineral intensity with a softened, velvety texture that marks it as a classic expression of traditional Côte-Rôtie.

Medium red. Mineral-driven aromas of red berries, cherry, Asian spices and violet display impressive clarity and vivacity, and a delicacy that is really intriguing. Light on its feet, with deeply concentrated red berry and cherry flavors and a suave floral quality. Silky in texture like a suave Chambolle-Musigny, with excellent finishing spiciness and cut. Pure and stylish.Josh Raynolds1st January 2009
