Having founded his domain in 1971 with just three parcels of vines, René Rostaing has slowly but surely accrued 7.5 hectares of prime vineyards across the Northern Rhône and is now, with the assistance of his son Pierre, recognised as one of the highest quality producers in the region. Previously known as Cuvée Classique but renamed in 2009, Côte-Rôtie Ampodium is a blend of 13 different prime parcels and produced from 100% Syrah. This is an intense and broody wine, with a core of deep black fruits and delicate notes of pepper, liquorice and crushed stones. Though the tannins are silky and perfectly ripe, this will need a few more years in the cellar.

Vinous
Deep violet color. Ripe blackberry and cherry on the floral- and spice-accented nose. Shows fine definition and appealing sweetness on the palate, offering juicy dark fruit and floral pastille flavors and a peppery overtone. Closes long and lively, with repeating cherry and spice notes and even tannins that lend subtle grip.Josh Raynolds22nd December 2022
