Situated within the Saint-Estèphe appellation, Château Cos Labory is a Fifth Growth property covering approximately 18 hectares. The vineyard is predominantly planted with Cabernet Sauvignon, complemented by some Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and a small proportion of Petit Verdot. After changing hands between various owners, it ultimately became the property of the Audoy family in 1971. The vintage of 2005 holds a remarkable reputation across the wine world, with many regions in France, including Bordeaux, Sauternes, Burgundy, the Loire, and the Rhône Valley, basking in the glory of an exceptional year.

One of the finest wines I have tasted from this estate, the 2005 Cos Labory exhibits a deep ruby/purple hue, aromas of road tar, blackberries, creme de cassis, forest floor, smoke, and graphite, medium to full body, and abundant tannin. It is a complete, dense effort with high tannins in the finish. Once the tannins melt away, it should represent an outstanding example of the vintage. Anticipated maturity. 2015-2030. - Robert M. Parker, Jr.

Saturated medium ruby. Slightly reduced aromas of blackberry, cassis, kirsch, menthol, black olive and shoe polish; a bit inexpressive today. Then broad, ripe and sweet, but with a firm spine of acids and tannins giving shape and thrust to this very young wine. Finishes with broad, serious tannins and noteworthy power and persistence. A very good showing.
