The history of Domaine de la Pousse d`Or dates back to the 15th century when it was originally established. Over the years, it has changed hands and undergone various transformations, solidifying its reputation as a producer of high-quality Burgundy wines. The estate owns and operates vineyards in several prestigious appellations across Burgundy, including Volnay, Pommard, Corton, and Santenay. This particular release hails from ‘Le Clos du Roi’, a highly prestigious climat of the Corton Grand Cru appellation. The 2010 vintage in Burgundy is widely regarded as exceptional, particularly for red wines. The growing season was marked by favourable weather conditions, including a warm and dry summer, which allowed for optimal ripening of the grapes.

Bright ruby red. Perfumed, high-pitched aromas of cherry, minerals, spices and licorice: Cellarmaster Christophe Bouillot describes this as the domain's upstairs Corton, while the Bressandes is their downstairs version. Precise and fine-grained in the mouth, with lovely mineral and violet high notes lifting the black cherry and licorice flavors. Really saturates the palate without leaving any impression of undue weight. Very long on the aftertaste.Stephen Tanzer1st January 2012

Dark crimson with the scent of autumn leaves. Very round and relatively simple. No great intensity. Severely chewy finish. I don't really feel that the racy spirit of 2010 has been captured in this domaine's wines. (JR)Jancis Robinson22nd November 2011
