Maison Verget is a leading négociant business set up in 1990 by Jean-Marie Guffens and his wife Maine Heyne. These wines have a loyal following across the globe and recent vintages have grown in popularity thanks in part to critical acclaim. The 2002 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru is intensely floral, and combines notes of roasted hazelnuts, almonds and citrus fruit that is bright and ripe.

Multifaceted nose combines green apple, lime, powdered stone, baking spices, marzipan and minty high tones. Fat, rich and high-toned; almost creamy for young Corton-Charlemagne but this has grip and backbone, not to mention energy in the mouth. Very intense, juicy flavors of apple, spices and crushed stone. This should age reasonably well, but won't injure your palate if you enjoy it on the young side.Stephen Tanzer1st September 2004
