The 2010 Corton-Charlemagne Rapet is a notable white Burgundy from the esteemed Corton hill, crafted by Domaine Rapet Père et Fils. This Grand Cru vineyard is known for its significant mineral presence and depth, with the estate owning select parcels of vines, some dating back to 1945. The 2010 vintage showcased a growing season that yielded Chardonnays marked by balanced concentration and acidity. Expect aromas of yellow fruit and subtle toasted notes, with structured minerality on the palate, suggesting the wine’s capability for further ageing.

The 2010 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru is initially muddled on the nose, but it coheres in the glass to reveal attractive aromas of lemon peel, crushed flint, linseed oil and hints of licorice. The palate is well balanced with a fine line of acidity, taut and fresh if not the most powerful Corton-Charlemagne you will find. But it is well made and displays fine salinity on the finish. Tasted at Sarah Marsh’s 2010 white burgundy tasting in London. Neal Martin1st June 2020
