Corton-Charlemagne was officially recognized as a Grand Cru in 1937 and it is one of the 33 Grand Cru appellations in Burgundy. This 2010 vintage release from Louis Jadot comes from one of the oldest vineyards owned by the Maison. For this particular cuvée, the Chardonnay grapes are picked by hand, gently pressed and then fermented in oak barrels, one third of which are new. Aging lasts approximately 15 months on fine lees before release.

Brilliant pale yellow. Precise, penetrating aromas of green melon, ginger, quinine and dusty stone. Silky on entry, then sappy and deep in the middle, with a powerful crushed stone character and strong limey acidity combining to give the wine uncanny energy. This is almost painful today. This extremely dense, long wine may ultimately surpass Jadot's Chevalier-Montrachet.Stephen Tanzer1st September 2012
