Corton Charlemagne Jacques Prieur 2005 is a Grand Cru white Burgundy, representing a powerful and age-worthy expression of Chardonnay from one of Burgundy`s most respected historic domaines. Domaine Jacques Prieur is a historic and highly esteemed estate in Burgundy, with roots dating back to the late 19th century. Based in Meursault, it is one of the very few domaines that own significant parcels in five Grand Cru appellations across both the Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune (Le Montrachet, Corton-Charlemagne, Chevalier-Montrachet, Clos de Vougeot, and Echézeaux, among others). (tasted from cuve Pale color. Aromas of lime blossom, elderflower and mint show a medicinal, almost metallic austerity. Then juicy and surprisingly accessible on the palate, with pineapple and lemon flavors accented by oak spices. Already displaying a lot of personality. At once penetrating and silky; comes across as lower in acidity than the Montrachet but more minerally. Finishes with enticing notes of grapefruit and crushed stone.
