Domaine Chandon de Briailles is a family-owned wine estate located in the Côte de Beaune region of Burgundy, France. The Domaine has vineyard holdings in several prestigious appellations, including Pernand-Vergelesses, Corton, and Savigny-lès-Beaune. The estate has been in the de Nicolay family since the 1830s and is currently led by the brother and sister team, Claude and François de Nicolay. This is a well-aged Corton-Bressandes from a top-quality vintage, showing a harmonious balance between acidity, tannins, and fruit.

Moderately saturated medium red. Initially smelled like a white wine, with its wild mint and citrus peel scents, then opened to reveal cherry, raspberry and red licorice. Densely packed and utterly seamless, with a restrained sweetness and excellent energy to the tactile, lightly saline middle palate. Conveys a strong impression of solidity without any excess weight. With its perfectly integrated acidity, this grand cru really stimulates the taste buds on the superb, rising finish. Should age a long time.Stephen Tanzer1st March 2013

Much more aromatic now than the Maréchaudes. Firm but very fine-grained tannins and a savoury element in the middle and also scented. Long and fragrant finish. (JH)Julia Harding9th January 2012
