Established in 2007, Benjamin Leroux produces a range of wines that cover the entry-level Bourgogne appellation all the way up to premier and grand cru, including cuvées from the Clos de Vougeot, Clos Saint-Denis and Bâtard-Montrachet. His 2017 Corton has a beautifully floral and elegant nose. On the palate, the wine is focused on minerality and freshness rather than tannin.
Vinous
The 2017 Corton Grand Cru is a mix of vines from the Aloxe-Corton and Ladoix side of the vineyard. It has a very pure bouquet of red cherries, boysenberry, rose petal and faint rooibos tea aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with soft tannins, rounded and velvety, yet missing a little backbone and nerve on the finish. Is this Grand Cru just trying to seduce me on the day, without caring for longevity? We’ll see. Neal Martin1st January 2019
