Domaine Auguste Clape comprises only 8 hectares of old vines on prime parcels of sunny, steeply terraced vineyards on the western banks of the Rhône. The Auguste Clape Cornas is one of the most popular wines from the appellation and serves as their flagship wine. The 2013 vintage has a plum and boysenberry character, with lighter strawberry and raspberry fruits. Some olive tapenade and plenty of graphite and dark stony notes. The palate has a juicy texture, with bright acidity and fine long tannins.

Vinous
Glass-staining ruby. Spicy, highly perfumed cassis, boysenberry, incense, smoky bacon and mineral scents show excellent clarity. Densely packed, fresh and energetic on the palate, offering concentrated flavors of fresh black and blue fruits and floral pastilles. Shows an alluring sweetness on the extremely persistent finish, which features harmonious tannins and a strong echo of smoky minerality.Josh Raynolds1st March 2016
