Convalmore 32 Year Old Special Releases 2017 is a limited-edition, age-statement Speyside single malt whisky produced at the Convalmore Distillery. Distilled in 1984, this rare Convalmore expression was matured for 32 years in refill American oak hogsheads before being bottled at cask strength of 48.2%. Only 3,972 bottles were produced. Expect a subtle, sweetly spiced notes of buttery pastry cases, green fruits and a little citrus, followed by brown sugar sweetness and spice. Smooth and creamy with a long finish.

A Lost Distillery

Another closed distillery with an interesting history. Following a fire in 1909, Convalmore switched from distilling in pot stills to using continuous stills - a method of production associated with grain whiskies. Following six years, it was decided to move back to pot stills and the distillery continued producing single malt until it closed in 1985. Convalmore was never official bottled as a single malt in its lifetime, instead supplying whisky for blends like Black and White.

There are occasional releases of mature whisky as part of Diageo's Special Releases series and some independents have released excellent bottlings - Gordon and MacPhail most notably. The distillery site is currently used as warehousing and there are no plans to revive it.
