Concha y Toro Don Melchor 1999 is a distinguished Cabernet Sauvignon-based red wine from one of Chile`s premier wineries. This vintage is primarily composed of Cabernet Sauvignon, sourced from the Puente Alto vineyard, which lies at the foothills of the Andes. The wine showcases a structured profile with notable tannins and a lengthy finish. On the palate, expect a blend of dark fruit and subtle earthiness that reflects the terroir.
92 Vinous
- An iconic wine in Chile, Don Melchor has been made since 1987. The 1999 harvest was cold and dry and resulted in a blend of 93% Cabernet Sauvignon and 7% Franc. Ebullient and complex on the nose it offers notes of rose, licorice, dates, dried flowers, sweet spices, truffles and mushrooms. Makes a sugary entrance on the palate with a silky, accomplished profile before the tannins get to work lending a muscular solidity to what is already a flavorsome mouthful.
Robert Parker
The 1999 Don Melchor is medium to dark ruby-colored and has a gorgeous nose of dark cherries and mocha. Its tangy, intense, and dense personality is highly concentrated and inky. This superb Cabernet coats the palate with wave after wave of blackberry and cassis fruit as well as loads of prodigiously ripened tannin. It is a youthful, extremely well-structured wine that should be consumed between 2008 and 2020. - Pierre Rovani
