Colgin IX Estate Proprietary Blend 2015 is a full-bodied, single-vineyard red wine from the Napa Valley of California. Colgin Cellars was established by Ann Colgin in 1992. Anne crafted her early vintages from vineyards near the base of the Howell Mountains in Napa Valley. Later, she acquired land on Tychson Hill and enlisted the renowned viticulturist David Abreu to oversee vineyard planting. The IX Estate Proprietary Blend is the estate`s flagship red wine, made from a blend of Bordeaux varieties, typically including Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot. The wine takes its name from the IX Estate Vineyard, which is situated in the Pritchard Hill area of Napa Valley. "Composed of 62% Cabernet Sauvignon, 19% Cabernet Franc, 15% Merlot and 4% Petit Verdot, the 2015 IX Proprietary Red Estate sports a deep garnet-purple colour and nose of smoked meat, blackberries and black currants with suggestions of baking spices, dark chocolate, fertile earth, dried Provence herbs, cardamom and lavender plus a touch of cigar box. Full-bodied, rich, firm and restrained, it has a lovely earthy, soft-spoken style at this youthful stage, promising great things to come over the forthcoming 25-30 years." 100 points, Wine Advocate

Following a dry winter and unfavorable weather at flowering that led to a small crop, Colin's 2015 IX Estate was fully picked before the end of September. The naturally concentrated fruit still makes a fantastic impact on the palate. Black cherries are joined by hints of vanilla and licorice in this full-bodied, lush wine, underscored by terrific length on the supple, creamy-textured and chocolate-tinged finish. — Joe Czerwinski, 7th May 2026

The 2015 IX Estate is superb. Complex and dynamic in the glass, the 2015 is so expressive. Black cherry, gravel, incense, tobacco and scorched earth soar from the glass. At ten years of age, the 2015 is just starting to hit its stride. This is an impressive showing. — Antonio Galloni, 6th November 2025

Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot. Very concentrated crimson thanks to the very small, drought-affected, highly extractable berries, ‘We work so hard to hold on to freshness.’ They do sell off some bulk wine. 20 acres planted, 16 for this blend and 4 to Syrah.Definitely more concentrated and burly than the 2016. Sweeter but still with some dried herbs and a bit more obvious alcohol. Less elegant. Strong vintage variation. A bit hot on the end. A little dry tannin on the finish too. Not as ready as the 2016.
