From 1992 to 2007, Colgin Cellars produced wines from the prestigious Herb Lamb vineyard, a north-facing site nestled in a conifer forest on Howell Mountain’s lower slopes. For these sixteen vintages, the estate handpicked fruit from the upper rows of this unique vineyard for the "Herb Lamb" bottling. Known for its perfume and charm, these wines often feature notes of blue fruits and mint. The 1996 Colgin Herb Lamb Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon stands out as a prime expression of Napa Valley’s terroir. Crafted from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, it reflects the vineyard’s well-drained soils and distinct microclimate. The palate offers rich layers of dark fruit, earth, and subtle oak, all balanced by elegant structure. Founded by Ann Colgin in the early 1990s, the winery is celebrated for its small-lot production, which highlights the distinct character of each site.
