Cockburn`s Vintage 1967 is a fine example of a Port from a generally good vintage in the Douro Valley. The wine has developed well over the years, showcasing flavours and aromas of dried fruits like raisins, figs and dates, complemented by notes of tobacco, leather and spices. The wine exhibits a smooth texture and a persistent finish. As with many Ports from this era, it has reached a good level of maturity and is best enjoyed now or in the near future. As with any Vintage Port, it is recommended to decant the wine to separate it from any sediment that may have formed over time.

Everyone else declared the 1966!Dark ruby and glowing and regarded by the Symington’s as very typical of Cockburn’s. Very jewelly and transparent – bet with Johnny Graham (of Churchill’s) that Paul Symington would eat his hat if it matched Dow’s 66 – very delicate. Not great power but real sinew and absolutely classic for Cockburn’s. Very fine indeed. (JR)Jancis Robinson10th March 2015
