The village of Vougeot is in the centre of the Côte de Nuits, flanked on the north by Chambolle Musigny and on the south by Flagey Echézeaux and Vosne Romanée. The vineyard spans 50 ha. Jadot`s Clos Vougeot is a classic Pinot Noir with a glorious red cherry profile and savoury, mushroom complexity from extensive bottle age. A lovely pairing with roast salmon and chicken dishes.

Dark red-ruby. Closed nose hints at black cherry, licorice and herbs; suggestion of crystallized fruit. Intensely flavored and vibrant but stubbornly backward on the palate; offers cool flavors of cherry and cassis leaf. Very young and quite persistent on the back end. May ultimately merit an even higher score.Stephen Tanzer1st March 1998
