The 2005 Clos St Denis from Domaine Dujac is a notable red Burgundy from the Morey-Saint-Denis appellation. This vintage is characterised by exceptional growing conditions, resulting in wines that exhibit both ripe fruit characteristics and pronounced acidity. The wine presents a bouquet of dark cherry, hints of floral notes and nuances of earthy forest floor. On the palate, it reveals a firm structure, with concentrated fruit and well-integrated tannins.
95 Vinous
Bright red-ruby. Musky, brooding aromas of dark fruits, mocha, spices and minerals; appears to be shutting down on the nose. Dense, large-scaled and packed with fruit and extract. The liqueur-like black raspberry, underbrush and licorice root flavors expand on the back half and go on and on on the aftertaste. Vinified entirely with whole clusters, this wine shows an almost painful intensity today and should really be forgotten for at least a decade. A great young example of this grand cru.Stephen Tanzer1st March 2008

A Focus on Terroir

Founded in the late 1960s by Jacques Seysses, who purchased and renovated Domaine Graillet in Morey-St-Denis. The estate is currently run by Jacques' sons Jeremy and Alec, who farm around 17 hectares of vines across the Côte including holdings in Echezeaux, Clos de la Roche, Charmes-Chambertin and Bonnes Mares.

A natural approach is taken in the vineyard and cellar with the estate moving from organic farming to fully biodynamic in the mid 2000s, receiving their certification in 2011. The team's focus is on elegance - temperatures are controlled to keep alcohol in check and also limit malolactic fermentation while juice from the crush is fed into the cellar by gravity only without the use of pumping. The wines of Domaine Dujac represent pure, balanced expressions of their respective terroirs.
