Clos Mogador 2014 showcases a blend of 49% Garnacha, 25% Cariñena, 16% Syrah and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon from the estate`s llicorella slate soils, located at 350 metres elevation. The vines, aged between 25-35 years, contribute to the wine`s depth. Fermentation employed indigenous yeasts, with a maceration lasting 35 to 45 days. The wine matured for 18 months in a mix of 300-litre barrels and large foudres, reflecting a shift towards less oak influence. Renowned for its meticulous approach, Clos Mogador is an iconic producer in the Priorat region, established by winemaker René Barbier.

Opaque ruby color. Powerful cherry, dark berry and candied licorice aromas are complicated by suggestions of exotic spices, smoky minerals and violet, accompanied by a peppery nuance that builds in the background. Fleshy and alluringly sweet, offering concentrated cherry liqueur, boysenberry and floral pastille flavors that are sharpened by a jolt of juicy acidity. Finishes sappy, minerally and very long, with smooth tannins lending shape and gentle grip.Josh Raynolds1st April 2019
