Clos du Marquis 2015, hailing from the Saint-Julien appellation of Bordeaux, is a wine that consistently reflects the distinguished terroir of its vineyards. Although often considered the second wine of Château Léoville Las Cases, Clos du Marquis is crafted from its own separate vineyard, producing wines of great individuality. The 2015 vintage is a blend of 66% Cabernet Sauvignon, 31% Merlot, and 3% Cabernet Franc, offering a wine with impressive structure and depth. On the palate, it reveals rich dark fruit, subtle spices, and a refined tannin profile, all leading to a harmonious, savoury finish. This vintage is a remarkable expression of its origins and is available in a magnum bottle for extended ageing potential.

The 2015 Clos du Marquis does not deliver the precision or sensuality that I observed in previous bottles. It still has earthy, cigar humidor and light black fruit scents, but this is just a bit sullen at the moment. The palate is conversely sweet on the entry with plush black cherry and blueberry fruit. It's silky in texture with a dab of wild mint on the finish. This is like tasting two different wines (at the moment). Tasted at the 2015 Ten-Year-On tasting at Bordeaux Index.
