Founded in 1880 and still family owned, Joseph Drouhin is one of the most well-respected names in Burgundy. The Domaine has been producing a diverse range of wines for over 140 years - from complex, age-worthy Grand Crus to easy-drinking, accessible Bourgogne. This release comes from Clos de Vougeot, a Grand Cru vineyard where Drouhin owns two parcels. The 2002 vintage reveals a well-structured wine, featuring notes of raspberries, red cherries, undergrowth, truffles and candied fruit.

Healthy dark red. Sexy aromas of black raspberry, minerals, smoked meat and spices. Broad and dense but with bright acids giving the wine lift and spine. Strongly mineral flavors of raspberry, strawberry and orange peel. Finishes very long and bright, with building tannins. Another very structured wine that will repay six to eight years of cellaring.Stephen Tanzer1st March 2005
