Established and managed by the inimitable Mme. Lalou Bize-Leroy, Domaine Leroy is one of the most iconic estates in Burgundy and produces some of the most highly sought-after wines in the world. Clos de Vougeot is just one of nine Grand Crus from the domaine and is sourced from a 1.9-hectare parcel of biodynamically cultivated vines.

2014 will more likely than not forever live in the shadows of more blockbuster vintages, however, in its own right it is excellent quality and produced charming and complex wines perfect for early drinking.

95 Vinous
The 2014 Clos de Vougeot emerges from three parcels that span the upper, mid-slope and lower parts of this large vineyard. Dense and powerful, but also quite a bit less polished than the other Grand Crus, the Clos de Vougeot is nevertheless endowed with notable personality. A rush of dark red cherry, plum, smoke and savory herbs punctuates this wild, intense, but also deeply expressive Burgundy. Antonio Galloni1st March 2017

Burgundian Royalty

The Leroy name is a key pillar of the Burgundian wine scene and a leading light in the Côte d'Or, with three main strands: Domaine Leroy, Maison Leroy and Domaine d'Auvenay (a small, biodynamically farmed Domaine founded by Lalou in 1988).

In 1988, recognising the trend towards domaine bottling in Burgundy, Lalou Bize-Leroy purchased what would become Domaine Leroy: an estate situated in Vosne-Romanée (previously known by the name Domaine Noëllat). Domaine Leroy labelled wines are thus are produced from parcels of grapes grown on the 22ha of domaine-owned Côte d'Or vineyards, which span nine different Grand Crus. These wines are produced biodynamically and at extremely low yields, resulting in superbly concentrated expressions of the Burgundian terroir.
