Clos de Tart is a domaine based on a single grand cru monopole vineyard and winery in Morey-Saint-Denis, making only two Pinot Noir wines. Its history dates back to a 12th Century abbey constructed by Cistercian nuns of the Notre Dame de Tart order. This rare bottle of the 1986 vintage is a real treat for wine lovers and collectors. The nose reveals cherries, red peppers, strawberries, mushrooms and spices. The palate is mature but soft, with some sweetness on the finish.

Vinous
The 1986 Clos de Tart Grand Cru shows poorly, presenting a bucolic, herbaceous nose of field mushrooms and a touch of oxtail, clearly bereft of fruit. It’s no surprise that the palate feels bony – skeletal, even – and dominated by dry tannins and an attenuated finish. To be frank, there are few redeeming features to this Clos de Tart, which should have been consumed by now, if not long ago. Tasted at the Clos de Tart vertical at Ten Trinity in London.
