Duty Charges

Below is a summary of the new duty charges per bottle as of February 2026. Please note that these vary depending on the ABV and are subject to change. Please get in touch if you require more information:

Transparent Billing and Rate Calculations

Annual Billing: Clients are invoiced annually based on the wines stored in the preceding year.
Case Equivalents: A case is defined as 9 litres of wine (typically twelve 750ml bottles), ensuring clarity in pricing.
Pro-Rata Charges: Storage fees are charged on a per-bottle basis, and wines stored for part of a month will be billed accordingly.

How to Use Our Bonded Storage

Purchase en primeur or under-bond wines from Hedonism Wines.
Automatically enjoy twelve months of free storage at our bonded storage when you open your storage account.
After twelve months, your storage will continue at the rates outlined above, with quarterly invoicing.
When you are ready to receive your wines, simply request delivery. Most orders are fulfilled within 3-4 working days.

Domaine Ponsot Clos de la Roche Grand Cru Cuvée Vieilles Vignes 2005 is a Pinot Noir from the Morey-Saint-Denis district of the Côte de Nuits, bottled in a magnum. This wine is produced from vines that are up to 100 years old, situated on a thin layer of soil over hard limestone. The 2005 vintage is a classic in Burgundy, delivering wines with high structural integrity and immense aromatic purity. The nose is deep and concentrated, showing notes of wild raspberries, truffles, leather and a distinct earthy minerality. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and vertical, with a dense tannic structure and a vibrant acidity. It is a profound, long-lived Grand Cru with an extraordinary, resonant finish.

The 2005 Clos de la Roche Vieilles Vignes Grand Cru from Domaine Ponsot does not fit the billing. Muddled on the nose and simplistic, it never comes near the quality of ethereal vintages like the 1980 or 1985. The palate is just as disappointing and there is clear lack of Pinoté. The 2005 is a wine that seems unable to contend with the level of expectation heaped upon it. Thankfully, there are other superior vintages from Ponsot.Neal Martin1st February 2025

Burgundian Pioneers

An estate that looms large in the mythology of Burgundy. Domaine Ponsot were early adopters of the practice of estate-bottling in the 1930s and also pioneered research into clonal selection - a key aspect of modern viticulture. Up until 2017, the domaine was under the stewardship of Laurent Ponsot, who did much to promote his family's wines. Laurent took what he saw as the best of organic and biodynamic practices without ever pursuing formal certification. On paper, the approach in the winery seems almost spartan - no sorting table at the cellar, fermentation is proceeds according to the whims of the native yeasts, absolutely no new wood is used during maturation and bottling takes place in line with a particular lunar phase.

While this approach might seem esoteric, the high quality of the wines and the praise they receive is universal. The Grand Cru wines are some of the finest in the Côte d'Or - concentrated, powerful and intense, all made with fruit from 50+ year vines. While Laurent may have moved on, his sister Rose-Marie has continued to maintain quality as sole proprietor of Domaine Ponsot.
