Olivier Bernstein is among the most successful micro-négociants in Burgundy. In total, he has access to 7 hectares of vineyards, including the Grands Crus of Chambertin, Bonnes-Mares and Clos de Bèze. Produced from 50-year-old vines in Clos de la Roche, this cuvée offers a delicate and airy nose, comprising of fresh red fruits, particularly cherries. On the palate, the wine is perfectly balanced, the tannins are fine, and the length is impressive, with savoury notes on the finish.

100% new oak. Barrel sample – already racked from barrel to barrel. Fragrant and lifted with tangy but ripe black fruits yet with the space to also have a light floral note, even orange? Chocolate orange? Hard to describe. On the palate, seems very Morey, more subtle than I expected, supple tannins, great freshness and the power is all in the length. Mouth-wateringly moreish on the finish. (JH)Julia Harding3rd December 2018
